Shinhae Oh, M.Div.
Shinhae is a clinical intern who sees clients at our Chicago Lakeview office, as well as via telehealth.
Welcome. My name is Shinhae. I believe therapy is a journey of understanding and healing your inner self in the process of rebuilding a relationship with yourself as well as with others. My own therapeutic journey has allowed me to find new meaning and insight for me to embrace myself wholeheartedly. I strongly empathize with what it feels like to be alone in a cage of emotional and mental struggles. It is hard to overcome the situation with a hopeful mindset while in the state of being most vulnerable. I believe that understanding of self can uplift you to move forward with hope. I am grateful to walk along on your journey as if someone did to me.
I enjoy seeing clients at various life stages, especially young adults, couples, and families. I love to work with people who are struggling with life transitions, trauma, relationship issues, lower self-esteem, family conflicts, and identity issues. With couples, I help them find a new perspective to navigate their life transitions and see each other’s differences as a source of strength to connect rather than conflict. I also welcome children who face unexpectedly challenging family environments and need a safe and warm space to build secure attachment and understanding. With individuals, I enjoy working with them to find a positive and healthy self-esteem to overcome their life challenges.
My strength is to find the positivity and hidden strengths in my clients. My approach can provide strong empathy, validation, encouragement, and new meaning for you to create your way of healing and sense of connection to your inner world. I provide in-person and telehealth with narrative, Satir, and solution focused therapeutic approaches. I also like to incorporate Bowenian family system with families. My therapeutic style integrates active listening, deep understanding, curiosity, and challenging. I believe that our work together can build and move you forward to see life with a hopeful and meaningful perspective so that we can say life is worth living.
