Experiential Therapies

It is not uncommon for us to learn and process in ways that are beyond words and traditional talk therapy. Because of this, we offer a variety of experiential therapies to allow you to find the best fit for your unique healing needs. Our therapists will assess with you which of these, or a combination, would be most effective so you can reach your treatment goals.

Different Types of Experiential Therapies

SOMATIC THERAPIES focus on the mind/body connection and healing by releasing or moving stuck emotions through in order to heal. This is a great way to treat trauma and high-level stress that is continuing to impact your life. Some of these therapies include:

  • Somatic Experiencing
  • Sensorimotor Psychotherapy
  • Trauma Informed Yoga
  • Polyvagal Therapy
  • Dance movement therapy
  • EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing

ART THERAPY focuses on the process of art as a way of healing and expressing oneself. This evidenced based approach can be useful for all ages and for treating many different life experiences, including trauma, poor body image, and perfectionism.

DRAMA THERAPY offers a very active experience to gain insight to previous experiences, learn and practice interpersonal relationship skills, and strengthen connection with imagination.  This can be helpful for healing and for learning practical skills for everyday functioning.

ERP (Exposure Response Prevention) is focused on adjusting thought and behavior connections triggering significant discomfort.  Common disorders and experiences that can benefit from this approach are OCD, perfectionism, and anxiety related disorders.

MINDFULNESS MEDITATION guides a client to enhance awareness of themself and their worldly experiences without judgment and increased intention in their actions. This can be beneficial for any human, but particularly effective for those dealing with anxiousness, addictions, or ADHD.

CREATIVITY IS USED IN THERAPY by many of our therapists. They are naturally guided by and open to expressive arts, and can also empower you to use your own creativity and interests. They are happy to take your lead in whichever way you best express yourself, whether that be through making a playlist of songs, crafting, photographing your gratitude for the week, and so many more. They can work with you to make these authentic connections for deeper personal insights and encourage thoroughness in your healing.

Here’s what to expect when you work with us:

Free Phone Consult:

At Bricolage, we extend a free 15-minute phone consultation to make sure we are a good fit to work together. We will discuss what your goals are, explain what therapy will look like, and how your life will be different after working with us. By the end of this call, you will have
a clear idea of your next steps.

Initial Session:

Your first meeting with your therapist will be between 60 and 70 minutes and will allow the two of you to begin to build a relationship.
You will go over the information you provided before this initial session as well as dive into all of the elements of your story. Throughout
this appointment, you and your therapist will work as a team to create your action plan.

Weekly Sessions:

Once you and your therapist begin to work deeply together, you will experience a type of treatment that has been completely tailored
to you and your needs. Your therapist will take keen notice of where you are in your wellness journey and ensure that the exercises you complete in session will bring you a sense of comfort and peace as you move forward.we

Completion of Goals

As a team, you and your therapist will continue to evaluate your progress and growth. Eventually, the two of you will recognize that you
are responding to stressors more effectively and that weekly therapy might no longer be necessary. At this point you can choose to come to session less often and together you will decide what level of support you need for the future.

Our team of compassionate professionals will help you tap into the strengths you already possess and guide you to stop looking for the “if” and start taking advantage of the NOW.
